The future of martial arts depends on inclusivity.

The Vision

East Bay Martial Arts will be a nonprofit umbrella that will house a collective of rich and diverse martial arts practitioners. It will be a generative space in which to study mindfulness within conflict and a safe space into which we invite the fullness of our identities. Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility will be the core principles that inform the development of this vision. We hope to include a variety of martial arts, taught by BIPOC and queer instructors.

The Present

For as long as the weather holds, we will train twice a week on a private outdoor patio just blocks from Lake Merrit. For more information, see our Training page. Our goal is to find a (semi)permanent, indoor setup by the time the rains return toward the end of the year.

Please reach out using the form below if you’d like to discuss this project, have resources to share, or would otherwise like to support us on this journey.

With gratitude,

César + Evie
